The Lotus Temple, or Baha’i Temple, is one of the best tourist attractions in Delhi because of its marvelous architectural shape. Actually, the temple was built for the Baha’i followers but it becomes a destination for about 50 million visitors with different languages and religions every year. This architectural masterpiece was built with nine sides, nine doors, a circular shape, and a dome according to the instructions of the son of the founder of this religion to match their way of worship. But the designer Fariborz Sahba arranged 27 free standing petal shaped white marble to form the nine sides from inside and give a lotus flower shape from outside. The petals are designed in three sets of leaves to cover the entrance hall. When these leaves are open, the glass and steel roof beams protect the hall from the rain. The ceiling of the building reaches 40 meters and gives a majestic look to the place.
The Lotus Temple complex includes the administrative building, the main house, the reception center, the restroom block and the library. Outside the building, there are the nine pools surrounded by the beautiful gardens that will lead you inside the building.
As a tourist, you can reach the temple easily, as it is located in the village of Bahapur in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
