How to Shape Your Eyebrows with Threading in 7 Steps

Threading is a hair removing technique that became popular in Middle Eastern countries before it was so in the remaining parts of the world. As the name implies, you use thin thread (mostly cotton) by twisting it several times to remove the hair. But how to use it to shape eyebrows shall be discussed in detail in the following lines.

1- First, you need to define the area you are working on instead of just starting haphazardly and ruining the shape of your eyebrows in the end. Use an eyebrow pencil to fill in the exact shape you want for your eyebrows.

2- Sometimes there are longer hairs in your eyebrows that might ruin their shape. So, instead of just plucking those off by threading (which can be hurtful and might cause them to not grow back) try to trim these longer hairs. Use old clean mascara or an eyebrow brush to brush them upwards then trim them with small scissors.

3- Cut a piece of cotton thread that is about 30 to 40 cm long and create a loop by tying the ends together.

4- Hold this loop from the left and right using the thumb and index finger of both hands and start to twist the loop. Keep twisting until you form about 2 cm or a little more of twisted thread.

5- Still holding the loop with your fingers, stretch the thumb and index fingers of one hand apart and notice that the twist in the thread will go towards the other hand. Use this to set the hair between the twisted thread and then pluck it off out of the formerly set frame.

6- Repeat this process by shifting the twist from left to right and backwards using the thumb and index of both your hands, until you remove all unwanted hair.

7- Wash your eyebrows to lessen the itch you might be feeling now, and DON’T SCRATCH IT! Use a disinfectant and an antimicrobial cream to make sure it doesn’t scar.
