How to Lose Weight after Giving Birth

You are no longer pregnant but your balance seems to disagree? Don’t worry, there are healthy ways to drop this baby weight and get back your fit body. Before moving on to the weight loss advices, we congratulate you for welcoming a new family member! And now we show you how to lose those pregnancy pounds.

1. Stay Hydrated

You may mistake thirst for hunger and this will increase your cravings for a snack. Dehydration will also slow down your metabolism and make it difficult to lose weight. Drinking a glass of water whenever you nurse is the least recommended water amount you should take.

2. Cut Empty Calories

You shouldn’t go on a harsh diet because you need nutrients to nurse. However, you need to cut empty calories of fast food, sweets and fizzy drinks to stay away from harmful sugars and saturated fats.

3. Breastfeed Your Baby

Nursing babies is not only good for them but it is helpful for their mom’s too. Breastfeeding helps you burn hundreds of calories a day and speed up the return to your pre-pregnancy weight.

4. Be Active

You can start exercising vigorously right after delivering. Nonetheless, you can put your baby in a stroller and go for a walk in the outdoors to enjoy the scenery and burn some calories. Consult your doctor to know the proper time to start exercising.

5. Get Sufficient Sleep

It might sound ridiculous to tell a new mom to get a continuous 7 hours sleep, but you should try to get those seven hours even if they were separated because lack of sleep means gain of weight. Make a bedtime routine for your baby by bathing the baby then singing or reading to them. Committing to this routine every night will help you and your baby have a regular sleeping pattern.
