There are thousands of toys out there tickling your child’s imagination. Advertisement plays a vital role and makes the child believes he “needs” the toy. However, you aren’t going to – or even be able to – get your child all the toys he/she sees in the advertisements. So, how do you choose the right toys for them?
– The best toys are not always the fanciest and the most expensive; the best toys are the ones that fire up the child’s imagination. Good toys help your child learn new skills, practice relationship with others, help the child to be himself and interact easily with the physical world.
– It is better if you can understand your child’s preferences and tendencies to determine the best toy for him/her that will capture their interest. The best toys to buy are the open-ended ones; like blocks, crafty toys, balls, or dress ups. Such toys encourage your kid to use their creativity, imagination and problem solving skills. You can also bring your kids useful toys like Legos, jigsaw puzzles, toolbox, and a collection of plastic animals, paint, board games, dolls, vehicles or music toys.
– Also anything that encourages physical exercise would be great for kids, like jump ropes, basic sports equipment, skates, or age-appropriate riding toys.
– Try not to go crazy on the educational stuff, so don’t spend too much time and money on some learning and educational tools. Lecturing your child or banning toys isn’t effective; you can instead use your child’s toys to teach your own values.
In summary ; remember that playing is the work of childhood, choose the toy for your kid not for yourself, don’t get hung up on gender specific toys, and get in there and play with your kids.
