Many people tend to flee away from foods high in carbohydrates in order to stay healthy and avoid obesity. However there’s a big misconception in the matter. Even though we must avoid junk food and foods high in sugar, there are many high-carb foods that are extremely healthy and should not be avoided. The following are some examples:
Oats are incredibly healthy full grain foods that are loaded in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fibers and proteins. Oats are found to lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels decreasing the risk of heart diseases and diabetes. They also keep you full and are great for weight loss.
Quinoa grains are high in carbs but also high in protein and fibers making it helpful during weight loss. They are gluten-free and can be consumed instead of wheat. Oats are also known for lowering blood sugar level.
Buckwheat contains more antioxidants and minerals than other grains. It’s high in protein and fibers and is very good for the heart’s health and diabetic patients.
4. Sweet Potatoes
Bananas are known for being a fruit high in potassium which makes it great for the heart and blood pressure. They are also high in vitamin C and B6. Unripe “green” bananas contain starch and pectin that makes it very good for the digestive system.
These citrus fruits are rich in fibers and are a very good source of vitamin C and antioxidants. Oranges are good for the heart and the kidney. It also prevents anemia by increasing iron intake.
The delicious crunchy fruit is a fine source of vitamin C, antioxidants and some vitamins and minerals. Eating apples maintains low blood sugar levels and reduces the risk of heart diseases and cancer.
