Guava is a yummy tropical fruit that used to be planted only in tropical places. I used to eat it just because it is so delicious and fragrant. That is before I read all about its wonderful benefits that will make having some guavas more often a necessity. Here are only a few:
1- Guavas have high levels of vitamins B3 and B6. B3 is sometimes called niacin, and it helps in increasing blood flow and stimulating cognitive functions, while B6 promotes the nerve system.
2- Guavas have large quantities of vitamin A. You might already know that vitamin A is important for your eyesight. It prevents macular degeneration and slows its progression significantly if it has already started.
3- Guavas are full of astringents. The flesh and the leaves are
especially rich in astringents. They tighten saggy and loose skin making it more youthful looking. Guava is also rich in antioxidants and important minerals that will slow the process of aging and heal wrinkles and wounds as well. Try to cut guavas into cubes, then boil them in water, then strain the liquid and use it as a wash for great results.
4- Guava is also rich in vitamin C and it cures most common symptoms of cold as well. It disinfects the respiratory tract, throat, and lungs. It also lessens mucus, and decreases microbial activity.
5- Guava is rich in copper, which is important for stabilizing thyroid’s metabolism. Maintaining the thyroid functions is important since this gland produces many hormones important for our health.
6- Guavas are rich in fiber and are low in calories on top of that. They are the perfect snack for those aiming to lose weight. It will satisfy your hunger and give you all the nutrients you need.
7- Guavas are probably the richest fruit ever in vitamin C. It is even four times richer in vitamin C than oranges which are usually sought for this vitamin. It can help with cold and prevent scurvy caused by vitamin C deficiency.
