Actually, research found that people who sleep less than seven hours have a harder time losing weight and gain more weight over time. If you are trying to shape up or slim down, getting enough sleep is as important as sweating by exercise.

Here below the reasons why you should get more sleep:

– To stop late- night snacking: the longer you stay up at night, the more likely you eat snacks you do not need, which can cause gaining more weight. People who sleep from 4 am to 8 am are found to gain more weight than those who sleep from 11 pm to 8 am mostly because they consume more calories at the time which the other group spends asleep.

– To burn more calories: not only you have more energy after a good night’s sleep but your body also burns more calories, as studies reveal that the amount of calories burnt for normal sleepers is higher than their sleep- deprived counterparts.

– To boost fat loss: if you eat the exact same diet as your friend and you do not get enough sleep, then you will not be able to lose as much fat as them. A recent study compared the weight loss results of sleeping eight hours per night versus less than six hours, and in both cases the participants eat the same number of calories. It is found that the well- rested group has lost more fat, compared to the tired participants.
