Havana is the capital city and leading center of Cuba. It’s characterized by a magnificent architecture heritage that you could almost feel as if you were on a time machine. Listed below are the most beautiful places you must see in a Havana holiday.
1. Plaza de Armas:
This spacious and luxurious plaza was the center of military activities and parades up until the 18th century. The monument of the Founding Father of the country stands at its center. In honor of him, the plaza is also called “Céspedes Park”. There you can find thousands of classical books and vendors of remarkable antiques.
2. Castillo de La Real Fuerza:
That gorgeous museum, which now exhibits Cuba’s maritime past, was once the oldest fortress in the Americas. It was originally build to stand against pirates’ attacks. The weathervane of the watchtower was sculptured as a replica of La Giraldilla. You can see it moving in the breeze on top of the tower, and on the main floor, there’s a huge model of Santisima Trinidad with a touch screen that portrays what life abroad was like during the 18th century.
3. La Bodeguita Del Medio
That tiny bar is now a virtual tourist magnet thanks to its famous patrons including Pablo Neruda, Ernst Hemingway, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. You shouldn’t leave Havana without sitting there between all those memorabilia, with the gorgeous atmosphere of music playing, and the fabulous Mojito cocktails.
4. Partagas Cigar Factory
Cigars might be the first thing springs to your mind when mentioning Cuba. Partagas is the oldest and biggest factory where you would enjoy a delightful guided tour; during which, you can see how the hand rolled cigars are produced and purchase some as beautiful souvenirs.
5. Museo de la Revolución
It used to be the former Presidential Palace who was ousted by the Cuban revolution. That revolution is now portrayed in the spectacular museum. You can see inside every document and photograph relating to the Cuban revolution with an overview of the battles and history of the free nation.
What makes it more magical is the tank placed in the side entrance which Fidel Castro used during the invasion of Bay of Pigs, and the yacht “GRANMA” in which Fidel Castro and Che Chevara came from Mexico to launch the Cuban revolution.
