4 Cartoon Characters You Never Saw and Probably Never Will and the Reasons Why

....................................................................................

When a certain industry becomes popular and grows to a large extent, mistakes are expected to happen, and an industry as big and popular as cartoon and animation production has many flaws. They may be hidden but they are there. Some of these flaws, or cartoons, were so disturbing that their producers had tried – unsuccessfully – to erase them.

1- Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs by Warner Brothers. You don’t need to guess what this cartoon is a remake off. Why was this cartoon pulled back from the market? Although the show was made to praise and taste jazz music, it looked so racist and it was insulting to the African American culture.

2- Song of the South by Disney. We know that Disney takes stories and modifies them to come up with the masterpieces it makes. We know that and we love it. But when it takes a story about the suffering of Afro-American slaves in the South in the Reconstruction Era and modifies it making it a cartoon in which look like they were as happy as a lark? You can modify and make up stories all you want, but not at the expense of people’s feelings and trouble. It is no wonder that Disney got rid of the movie afterwards.

3- “Rude Removal,” Dexter’s Laboratory by Cartoon Network. Dexter’s Laboratory is usually a harmless show, except with one episode that was a total lapse in judgment by Cartoon Network. In this show Dee Dee and Dexter were split into two versions, one good and the other is bad. The bad versions were cursing and swearing like drunken sailors. Although the profanities were “peeped”, you can easily guess them from the characters’ lips and the context.

4- “Electric Soldier Porygon,” Pokémon. This cartoon was pulled back for a reason you would never expect. This episode is a fairly ok episode. Ash and the gang go inside the computer to figure out why the system is acting up. No problem there. However, the show had a part where there were rapidly pulsating red and blue lights. Thousands of viewers suffered from symptoms of nausea to seizures and temporary blindness. Some of them were even hospitalized for a while. The accident has earned its place in history as the “Pokémon Shock”. The episode was withdrawn and never even made it to any other country.
